“Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose.” — Lauren Hutton

I know there are many people out there who think a career or passion for fashion and the apparel industry is silly. I’m here to tell you I disagree. Not only is the apparel industry one of the biggest (in money, numbers and employees) but individual style is important to a person.

Fashion is what we seen in magazines, on runways, TV shows, movies and so much more. Style is how an individual person takes these items and puts them together to form an individual canvas. Think of it as how a painter takes paint and an idea and transforms it into a beautiful painting.

You can learn a lot from a person based on how they dress, but of course sometimes you can’t. Just because someone wears Christian Louboutin’s does not mean they are materialistic and stuck up. Same goes for if you see someone wearing spikes and leather, they could be the nicest people ever. Style is the same as a book, you can’t always judge it by the cover.

I leave you wondering what your personal style says about you. What do you want to convey to the world? How do you take everything that is offered to you and make it your own?
