I’ve Been Gifted! Birchbox presents!

Hello all! Sorry for the lack of posts, I was busy with schools and graduating. Woohoo! Done with college! (But really boo)

Anyways, my birthday was last week, and I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling twenty-two. OK, sorry, I had to, how often do I get to say that and actually mean it?

Moving on, my brother and sister-in-law gifted me a Birchbox which I’ve wanted for a while. My first box came yesterday and I’m super excited about it!

If you don’t know what Birchbox is then let me explain it! Birchbox is a mailing service that delivers samples of retail items to your doorstep for $10 a month. Usually the samples are beauty products, but health and wellness, home and other items have been added.

Here is the beautiful box that i receive! It came with a card telling me I had been gifted and that I had to complete my profile. Once my profile is complete I should receive items that I ‘prefer’ over other items. For instance this box included random samples.

It included:

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Eyeliner in Silver

Harvey Prince Perfume

Klorane Dry Shampoo

Supergloop! SPF 30

and KIND Snacks Healthy Grains Bar

The only thing I’ve tried so far is the perfume, and it smells so good! I don’t know if the silver eyeliner will be for me, but I will definitely try it out. I’m also excited for the dry shampoo. I’ve recently started using it more and love the one Dove has, but I’m not against trying different kinds.

I’m pretty excited about this! I can’t wait for my goodie for the next five months (it was a six month subscription). Birchbox also has a box for men. My brother gets it and actually gets big stuff in it. He received a hat and tie that he gave my boyfriend.

I promise from here on out I will update frequently. You may not be as excited about my life as I am, but I’m going to anyways haha. For now I leave you my song of the moment!

Must Buy- Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

Guys, stop everything you are doing right now and go buy the Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask. Seriously. I’m a big fan of the Bioré Nose Strips, I have too many blackheads for my own good (TMI?), so I decided to give the mask a chance after reading about it. bbfinds_biore_900x900_1First you wash your face as you normally would, then keep your face damp. Open up one of these suckers and start to work it on your face with your fingers. Wow does this mask heat up! It felt so good on my face. Massage the mask and after a minute just wash it right off! There is no waiting for the mask to get hard or to peel it off. After the first use my skin felt so soft and clean. The instructions say to use it 2-3 times a week for best results, I doubt I’ll have a problem with that.

Have you used any other Bioré products? Tell me about them!

Pamper Yo Self

I am a strong believer that hard work will lead to the best results. I also believe that relaxation is needed sometimes to keep yourself from burning out. The best part about relaxation is that there are tons of things you can do to achieve your zen, such as: reading, shopping, listening to music, watching a movie, lighting a candle, napping, testing out some beauty products…etc. Seriously it all depends on you! I love to do basically everything on that list, especially reading, listening to music, testing beauty product and napping. Luckily for me I got to do all of those today!

We went to the mall to fix my little brother’s computer charger, so I took some time to browse through Sephora. I walked out with this swag:

I’ve needed new eye shadows for some time now so that was pretty exciting to find this winner by SmashBox. The Boscia Detoxifying Cleanser is something else I’ve had my eye on for some time too. I haven’t gotten to try them out yet but tomorrow will be a day of experimentation! The Smashbox is supposed to be used by wetting the brushes! That is going to be interesting to see how it looks.

Besides spending my Christmas money, I also tried the When Masks I talked about last time.

What’s great about these masks is that they are less cloth masks and more bio cellulose! This makes the masks fit better and have better contact with your skin, making them more effective than fabric masks. It didn’t slide off or feel like it was going to peel off if I moved my head too quickly. Besides staying on, the masks made my face AMAZING. Like really amazing. It felt smooth, supple, and hydrated. That’s right, I said supple. It was that good. I now want to try all of the masks!! I’m fully converted. I hope you all try it out too!

Now I’m off to read some more before bed!

Snow Day!

Continuing on my winter break adventures, we had a snow day today in New York. I completely forgot to take picture (silly me:/) but it was a lot. I was holed up inside today so I tried out a new mask and watched some Netflix.

I got some make up from my brother and sister-in-law from Sephora for Christmas and it came with some free samples. One of them was the GLAMGLOW Mud Mask. I’ve wanted to try this for a while, especially because the actual size mask is $69 and I want to make sure it is worth is. The mask is supposed to, according to Sephora, leave my skin “more youthful appearance and absorbs impurities without removing natural oils.” So this is what my sample looked like…

And this is what it looked liked on my face..

Wet hair, don't care!

It was VERY tingly…very. But I like that, it makes me feel like the mask is actually doing something. Anyways, so you have to wait until it dries and then wash it off. My skin did feel softer and did look brighter, but I’m not 100% convinced yet. I know I can get a tiny tube at Sephora for $19 so maybe I’ll look into buying that to try the mask out a few more times.

After I did a face mask I took a good old crack at Netflix. I watched some Sherlock and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

sherlockkI love both those shows. If you haven’t watched either, please do. Sherlock is wonderful for its mystery and suspense, and especially for the fact that it’s Sherlock Holmes!

Buffy…oh Buffy. If you haven’t watched it then you must. Why do I love this show? Do you have the time? Well in a few words it is amazing, quintessential 90s, girl power, funny, suspenseful and kick ass. I really think anyone should watch it, I even got my boyfriend into it!

Any who, tomorrow will probably be another snowy day around here. I’ll probably try my When Masks. The masks are cloth masks, really good for moisturizing!

Juice Cleanse-Day One…and Other Cool News.

So..the first day. It hasn’t been easy…but it hasn’t been hard either. I’ve made it through 5 of the juices by now and only two have been blegh.

Juice One- Green Juice.

Juice1

This was honestly gross. It’s like taking a wheat grass shot over and over without the orange as the chaser to ease the taste. It tasted a lot like kale to me. I’ve read a lot of blogs where the women claim to love this one… count me out.

Juice Two- P.A.M

juice2The second one is pineapple, apple and mint….and it is godly. It was a nice refreshing taste to follow-up the kale-y taste of the Green juice. I didn’t want to stop drinking it. In fact this was the one juice I tried over the summer. It is so refreshing on a summer day.

Juice Three- Green Juice.

Juice3This guy again….I literally chugged it down on my way to class, I didn’t want to deal with it. I followed it with tons of water to get the taste out of my mouth. Again, blegh.

Juice Four- Spicy Lemonade

photo(3)This was also so good! My roommate was telling me how it’s basically the “Master Cleanse”, she had done this once earlier and didn’t like the spiciness. However, it wasn’t nearly as spicy as the cleanse she did! It was like lemonade with a kick! I am so looking forward to having this one tomorrow.

Juice Five- C.A.B

joice5

I can’t decide how I feel about this one. I’m currently drinking it, and one minute I love the apple taste…and then I hate the root-y beet taste. I just don’t know. However, it makes me feel like a vampire because of how red it is…so there’s that.

Juice Six- Cashew Milk.

I don’t have a picture at the moment, but I will soon. So the cashew nut…well it was interesting. At first I loved it. The smell, the taste, everything. Then I realized there was a grit to it because of the cinnamon spice. It lost its appeal slightly but not all the way. So this one wasn’t bad either and it is a great way to end the day!

I think mainly the cleanse hasn’t been too bad because I’ve kept myself busy all day and haven’t had time to want to snack. Also, I don’t find myself hungry, only when I’m around food. I’ve been avoiding the dining halls and we had this big dinner at our house…so I avoided that too. I have, however, been craving steak and french fries all day long essentially, so I’ve also avoided areas with either of those.

I’ve been keeping myself busy with class work and going shopping for Christmas presents with my boyfriend. I bought some gifts for some Secret Santa’s I have, and got myself some goodies! This journal, for blog related things, and a watch from Target!

I’m pretty excited about them. I’ll also be posting some gift guides soon!

The Juices are Here!!

I walked into my house today and there it was in all it’s daunting glory….my BluePrint box!

Ta-Da!
Ta-Da!
Goodies!
Goodies!

Look at those 12 juices! I popped the right into the fridge and am preparing to begin tomorrow. BluePrint sends you nifty emails where they explain what you should do before and after the cleanse to make the experience the most rewarding and easiest it can be. So I’ve been trying to follow the advice, eating clean (fruits, veggies, nuts, etc) and avoiding sugars, caffeine and meat. Yeah…it’s been fun. Get excited for tomorrow!
