The Most Delicious Smoothie: Coffee, Peanut Butter, Banana and Chocolate.

Guys. Seriously. I made the most delicious smoothie today. I’ve been playing around with smoothies for the last week or so. I’ve used frozen berries (yum), I’ve made ‘green smoothies’ (still working on the perfect one), and last night I decided to try one with my favorite ingredients: chocolate, peanut butter, coffee and bananas!

I took some coffee from the pot made yesterday and put it in an ice tray and let it freeze overnight. This morning I added a banana to the freezer to get a little frozen. Then I grabbed my protein powder, peanut butter, and my mixer and started up the party!

 The Ingredients:

1/2 frozen Banana (can use a whole one if you love the taste)

4 Coffee Ice cubes

1 Tablespoon of smooth peanut butter

1 Scoop of chocolate protein powder. (If you don’t have protein powder I say use Chocolate skim milk)

A splash of water (If you use the skim milk you won’t need water.

It is SO GOOD. It taste pretty sweet, so I might save it for treats or special days. If I ever get the green smoothie right I’ll share that too!

A friend of mine, Erin of Sugar Snap Pearls, did a list of 22 things she wanted to accomplish before she herself turned 22. As I have recently turned 22, she has inspired me to compile a list of things I want to accomplish over the next year. Some might seem silly, but that’s the point of the list. These are things I want to accomplish!

1. Run a 5k.

2. Read about 15 books from my Goodreads list.

3. Visit my Best Friend AT LEAST 5x.

4. Go to a Winery.

5. Get a big girl job.

6. Find the perfect leather jacket.

7. Pay for a vacation with my money.

8. Go to 5 Concerts.

9. Visit a Distillery.

10. Visit a State I’ve never been to.

11. Take a cooking class.

12. Volunteer more, and regularly.

13. Take up Tennis lessons again.

14. Write a short story.

15. Get a Tattoo.

16. Lose about 10-15lbs.

17. Develop a signature dish.

18. Visit 10 museums and monuments in the USA.

19. Blog more, 4x a week.

20. Try 10 new food items.

21. Do 30 acts of kindness.

22. Make 10 Pinterest recipes.

23. Save $10 for every item I cross off of my list and buy something for my Birthday!

My end date will be May 14, 2015. This isn’t a full year, but some of these I’ve put a little dent in! I’ll be blogging about my time checking things off the list, so get excited about what I accomplish.

Let’s Ban Bossy

I can’t tell you how many times in my life I’ve been called bossy, stubborn, intimidating, and other words of the like. Fortunately, I didn’t let those words stop me from becoming clearheaded and independent. I have my mother to thank for that, she always lead me to believe that  I could be who I wanted and that no one  could make me feel inferior except myself. However, not everyone is lucky enough to have someone like Diane.

That is why I am all for Lean In’s and the Girl Scouts campaign to Ban Bossy. For those of you who don’t know what Lean In is, it is a non-profit organization that’s goal is to empower young women and help them reach their dreams and ambitions. Little girls and young women are told they are bossy at a young age and then become less interested in leadership roles. This campaign is trying to help girls and young women to learn to lead and become strong ambitious adults.

Here’s an article from the Wall Street Journal about the movement and the women behind Lean In and Ban Bossy. There’s also a page dedicated to movies and books that have strong female characters, go ahead and check that out.

Of course Beyonce is behind this campaign, and here’s a #banbossy graphic from her and another from Condoleeza Rice. Other people involved are Jennifer Garner, Jane Lynch, Diane von Furstenberg, Jimmie Johnson, Arne Duncan, Anna Maria Chavez, and Sherly Sandberg.

Also, remember that it’s not about banning a real word, it’s about empowering young women to believe in themselves beyond what people label them. It’s about letting girls know that just because someone calls you a name and makes you feel bad about having an opinion or knowing information, you shouldn’t stop being who you are or wanting to be a leader and have a thirst for knowledge. It’s a great campaign aimed at teaching young girls to be themselves.

Spring Break is Upon Us!

Spring Break is upon us, in fact my countdown says I have 2 days 1 hour and five minutes left! This is the time of year when everyone is getting run down from school and responsibilities. Spring Break just happens to come at the best time of the year. I am lucky enough to be going away with my boyfriend to Florida! I’m so excited, we’re going to the beach and Harry Potter World! WooHoo! I’ve put together some sets of outfits, mostly ones I wish I had, for the trip.
Obviously bathing suits, a towel, cover-up and flip-flops are essential to beaching it. What are also needed are beach reads, suntan lotion, and some tunes. That pretty much sums up a perfect day at the beach for me!
Beach-Spring Break
Besides the beach…we are going to….THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER (and Island of Adventures)! AHHHH! I’ve been once already but I am just so excited! It’s going to be great, especially since he hasn’t gone before so I’m excited for him to experience it. I try to wear shorts or dresses, because I can move freely in them, and a cross-body bag is a must! It’s easy to carry and fits everything you need. Also needed is a camera, water and stunner shades. These all will help the day go smoothly!
Theme Park Madness
My boyfriend and I also plan to spend one whole day watching all the Harry Potter movies…yeah we’re cool cats. This is an idea for a cozy night at home for those of you lucky enough to be going home to spend time with your family. Pop some popcorn, pour some wine, and settle in for a movie night.
Staying In
I’m super excited to head to Florida at the end of the week! We’ll be spending 10 hours in the car together, so that’s going to be interesting. I’ll update on pictures from all the fun times, especially HARRY POTTER WORLD! As you can see, I’m very excited for that.

Being Yourself. Just do it.

I’m a firm believer in being true to yourself. I know that these days saying  that is easier than actually doing it, but in the past few years I’ve learned it’s important. If you love the color yellow there is nothing wrong with painting your room canary yellow and wearing it practically every day. If you love Doctor Who and talk about it all the time, don’t let anyone tell you that it’s lame.

Being true to yourself helps you find yourself. It makes you more confident, and honestly it makes you a better and happier person. If you’re hiding yourself because you’re afraid of what people think it takes a toll on your health and sanity. I’ve found being my true self just makes me a happier person. That, in turn, makes my friends and family happier too. Happiness is contagious that way.

I’m not here to preach about doing what I do or about what should make you happy. I’m just sharing what I know works for me. What works for you? What makes you happy? What is your true self?

Just remember, don’t let anyone dull your sparkle.

The Juices are Here!!

I walked into my house today and there it was in all it’s daunting glory….my BluePrint box!

Look at those 12 juices! I popped the right into the fridge and am preparing to begin tomorrow. BluePrint sends you nifty emails where they explain what you should do before and after the cleanse to make the experience the most rewarding and easiest it can be. So I’ve been trying to follow the advice, eating clean (fruits, veggies, nuts, etc) and avoiding sugars, caffeine and meat. Yeah…it’s been fun. Get excited for tomorrow!
